“Kron Vilkon!” proclaimed Terra. She sat
with the other three elders on a raised platform, at the front of the
hall. The only bodyguards in the room stood behind them. Kron stood in
front of them. “You are charged with betrayal, bringing disgrace
to the family name and breaking the laws of this territory and those of
the Sorcerers’ Guild.”
“We name you since we received evidence that it was one of your
Sect members who accompanied Mazra for the murder all those years
ago,” explained Kiyor’s grandmother firmly. Upon hearing
this, many family members in the room smirked gleefully.
“So Kron? What do you have to say to these charges?” asked an elder mildly.
The dark-skinned middle-aged muscular man, standing
in front of the four great chairs on the raised platform, scoffed.
“So what if one of mine happened to be around? It could be any
Vilkon.”
“We had found in your organiser that you met
with someone called Tezrak several times. Tezrak was a member of the
Twilight Coven, as documented by the Sorcerer’s Guild,”
told Kiyor’s grandmother.
“So you spy on your family now?” Kron accused.
The same woman answered. “We have always kept knowledge of our member’s whereabouts.”
“Yet you allow Light Citizens to become
members and you do not question Scythe’s mysterious journeys or
the help he brings? I find that a little suspicious.”
With an evil sadistic grin, Scythe called out:
“I’ll have you know that I have a Vampire for a best
friend!”
The entire hall thundered in laughter.
“How dare you mock me!”
“Kron, if we had a concern with Scythe, he would be questioned, but it is you who presents us with a dilemma,” told a different elder.
Terra cut in. “Just answer this simple
question Kron! Did you collaborate with the Twilight Coven or
not?”
He looked at her calculatingly. “Yes. It is you
who manipulates the entire family. I just do differently than what you
tell us because I want my Sect and I to be free. Do you expect us to
follow every one of your orders? I believe that because of this, your
hate towards us grew and somehow you manipulated everyone else to think
the same way you do. If you saw us in a different light, then you might
find us more to your liking than you think.”
Another elder spoke. “That is all very well
Kron, however, despite any misjudgements against you, your Sect still
suspiciously wear some white.”
A different elder spoke. “We all know that
Light Citizens frolic and journey through life with no sense of
direction, status or respect. They go anywhere they please. Isn’t
that what you do?”
“We go anywhere we please because we are
Vilkons: the most powerful family in Vangelion. So why do you accuse us of having the traits of a Light Citizen when-”
“I see what point you are trying to bring
Kron,” cut in an elder coolly. “The Light Citizen
bodyguards have performed their duties well. They do not aspire to go
further than their given status…unlike some nobles.”
“Perhaps you have forgotten your place Kron!” accused Terra menacingly.
He sneered at her. “You will not sit there
forever old hag! One day it will be me who sits there and directs our
affairs!”
Shock was mirrored in the hundreds of eyes.
Kiyor’s grandmother stood up. “Is this
why you asked for the Twilight Coven’s help? To be leader of our
family and the Vampires as well? You know no one can be more dominant
than th-”
“Darsas!” shouted someone. One of the many Vilkon Lords had collapsed.
“He’s been poisoned!” shouted someone.
“I know who did it!”
A couple of fistfights started, some people adding extra conspiracies and grudges to the discovered rivalry.
“WE WILL HAVE CALM!” boomed the dark skin elder. He was then shot several times by Kron, who then quickly shot Terra.
The perfect catalyst.
Chaos erupted. A huge surge of anger roared
throughout the large room in the form of several large brawls. Gunshots
went off everywhere. People disappeared among people. The Light
Citizens had been thrown to the floor. People were hit, stabbed, shot.
Someone was hit over the head by a chair. Shouts, screams, insults were
heard. A number of people tried to escape from the chaos.
